Objectives: To learn about the culture Art History, Geography, and politics of Latin America. In this course students will be exposed to movies and other types of visual aid to guide them in the understanding of the Latin American Culture.
The student will be expected to attend all class meetings. Do homework, research a term paper and an oral presentation in front of the class and class participation.
PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism is unethical and illegal. It is rewarded with an F for the course.

Research one page and a half – Minimum

Student Performance Evaluation
The student shall be graded on the following performance areas:
1. CLASS ATTENDANCE. Attendance is obligatory.
2. HOMEWORK. Homework is obligatory and is due as assigned.
3. CLASS PARTICIPATION. The student is expected to participate in class activities and be ready to answer and to ask questions. Students shall respect other students and be a constructive, rather than disruptive part of the class.
COURSE GRADE
The final grade will be based on a percentage system of the points accumulated during the semester, according to the following scale: In order to complete the course, students must take all the quizzes, the Mid-term and the final Exam. In addition they have to write a term paper regarding one or more of the topics discussed in class and give an oral presentation based on their term paper. Final Exam and Mid-term and quizzes can not be dropped. Every other assignment, class participation and attendance is also part of the grade.

IV. Oral Presentation June 22, 2000

Students will choose a topic about any aspect of a Latin American country, Portugal, Spain, France, England or the USA. The oral presentation should be at least three minutes long.
IV. Term Paper
Students must write a term paper related to the topic of the oral presentation. The term paper will be a total of five pages. The first page should have a title, name of the student, course name, name of the professor, summer 2000 etc. The last page will be the bibliography with a minimum of four sources from books, magazines, articles or newspapers.
